Talk2Nish Peer Mentors is launched

Talk2Nish Peer Mentors is officially launched. Our party at the end of June not only marked the moment we publicly launched, but also helped to raise over £1.6K.

The evening at Theydon Bois Village Hall began with a short film [see above] about the charity and a Q & A between the host, sports journalist Darren Lewis, Assistant Editor of the Daily Mirror and President of the Sports Journalists' Association, and Mandy Garner, founder of Talk2Nish. They spoke about the origins of the charity, what it does and why and what the plans are for the future - extending the current pilot to more schools. Hannah, one of our current mentors, also spoke about the skills she had learned and how those would be useful both professionally and personally in the future.

Darren then led a highly competitive general knowledge quiz [particularly the tables involving teachers...] which was won, ironically, by a team called Mission Impossible. This was followed by a raffle with prizes donated from local businesses, including Tesco Theydon Bois, Slice - Sourdough Pizza Epping, Ashlyn's Farm, North Weald Chemist, Tikadi Ltd, Cocoa's Touch and Gossip Nails.

Around 70 people attended and special thanks go to Lorraine Grice for the wonderful balloon display and to Cake Crumbs for the delicious Talk2Nish cupcakes.
